Focus on social responsibility

That is why Steen & Strøm has launched the most comprehensive environmental and social responsibility programme in the industry. A programme that will enable us to reduce our environmental impact considerably!

All Steen & Strøm centres are to be eco-certified, which will make far-reaching demands on environmental performance and mean improvements with regard to climate change, waste handling and energy consumption.

• We only buy energy from renewable sources and we are going to reduce our energy consumption substantially.
• We are upgrading the environmental station at the centre and aim to increase the sorting rate to 75% for all waste.
• Many centres are members of the Swan’s Club for Purchasers and committed to making environmentally friendly purchases with the Swan ecolabel.
• Many centres are members of the Green Dot association, responsible for the recycling of used packaging within industrial sector.
• We are working together with the authorities on better public transport solutions, as well as providing cycle parking and parking spaces for electric cars.
• We try to give priority to web, video and phone conferencing over travel.
• And much, much more!

We are also encouraging the shops in the centre to stock a larger range of environmentally friendly and ethical products, and helping them to make their operations greener. As a responsible, future-oriented company, we must challenge ourselves, our employees, our suppliers and our partners. Our commitment to the environment must be concrete and proactive – and long-term.
